Guardians of the Galaxy Villain Revealed? Potential Spoilers Ahead!

Before I get started, let me issue the usual SPOILER WARNING to our readers. If you don’t like to have story lines, plots and characters revealed to you, then I suggest you stop reading now, because this article is full of them.

Still with me? OK, the folks over at JoBlo have been busy this morning with scoops and spoilers, so you can expect a couple more stories from that site in the very near future. This one is in regards to one of Marvel’s more anticipated films Guardians of the Galaxy. Fans and general movie goers are quite interested in seeing how the cosmic side of the film-verse will play out. The film will play an integral part in the shared universe, mostly because it will give an idea as to whether or not the world is ready for the cosmic characters. I’m thinking they are!

A few weeks back, we learned that Lee Pace had joined the cast of Guardians to play an unnamed villain. We’ve been speculating that Thanos would be the main baddie of the film, which would tie into future Avengers movies, and that may still be the case. In the meantime, we can expect to see a Thanos lackey taking the main stage in the Guardians film, with the likes of Phalanx, The Controller, or The Collector rearing their villainous head. According to JoBlo’s sources, that villain may just be Ronan the Accuser.

406px-RonantheaccuserFans of the comics know that Ronan is the leader of the alien race known as the Kree and has battled numerous Marvel factions, including the Fantastic Four, The Inhumans and the Guardians of the Galaxy. With Marvel looking to expand their universe to more of the cosmic side of things, it’s not a far stretch to bring in a baddie like Ronan. Now, whether or not this means we’ll see the Kree appear in future Marvel films is still up in the air. My speculation is that it’s a bit too close to othe first Avengers film and the Chitauri to bring in another militant alien race, but possibly down the road a bit? Secret Invasion?

This is by no way confirmation that Lee Pace will be playing Ronan, but he was cast as the lead villain in the film and if this rumor plays out, well, do the math. Naturally, we can expect a lot of denials and “no comments” on the topic from Marvel and the production team, so we’ll just have to play this one out and see what happens. Obviously, we’ll keep you up to date as more news comes along.
