Guardians Of The Galaxy Wraps Production, Ronan Is A Psycho And Odin Has A Daddy In Tony Curran

Ronan-LeeWe’re just about half way through Marvel’s Phase Two of films. Iron Man 3 kicked things off in a controversial way earlier this year and in just a few weeks, Thor: The Dark World will be hitting theaters. Next spring, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will surely have fans on the edge of their seats. Then there is Marvel’s big gamble; their first venture into the cosmic world. Next summer, the final film leading into the Avengers sequel- though we don’t know if it will be connected to that sequel- Guardians of the Galaxy will fly into theaters. With this film, we’ll see aliens, bad-ass trees and a trash talking raccoon take to the big screen. We’ve seen some images hit the web and a bit of a teaser was shown at this year’s SDCC that had fans on their feet. I think we may be in for a treat.

Lee Pace, who will be playing the Elven King Thranduil in the upcoming The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, recently sat down to chat with Click (via ScreenRant), where he revealed a bit about his role in the cosmic adventure film. It was revealed earlier this year that Pace will be bringing life to the character of Ronan The Accuser, a character that has a history of being a bad-ass and it looks like we’ll be seeing that translated to the big screen. Here’s what Pace  had to say.

“He’s a f*cking psycho! [laughs]. He’s a real monster. I’ve had the best time playing this character. I’m glad its all on film and I never thought I could be so nuts in it!”

protectedimageSign me up! Pace  is a phenomenal actor and I look forward to seeing his interpretation of the baddie. Director James Gunn and his team wrapped production on Guardians of the Galaxy last week with the second unit wrapping things up this weekend. Joining Lee Pace in Guardians will be Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillian, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou and John C. Riley.

Getting back to Thor: The Dark World for a bit, it was announced tonight on Twitter (via CBM’s Marvel_Freshman) that Scottish actor Tony Curran will play Odin’s father Bor in the upcoming sequel. Many folks will know Curran from his roles in Underworld Evolution, Blade II and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The role will be a part of a flashback sequence that will likely expand on the quarrel that Malekith has with Asgard that goes back nearly 5,ooo years.

Thor: The Dark World will arrive in theaters November 8th and will see Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Stellan Skarsgård, Jamie Alexander and Rene Russo all reprise their roles. Joining the cast will be Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Zachary Levi.
