Group Of Up-And-Comers Up For Kyle Reese In TERMINATOR: GENESIS
We recently learned that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke had landed the role of Sarah Connor in the upcoming reboot of the iconic Terminator franchise. Joining her will be Jason Clarke, who will take on the role of John Connor. There is still one major role that needs to be filled, that of Kyle Reese, played by Michael Biehn in the original film. Thanks to Variety, we may have an idea who will be joining the controversial project.
According to the site, Paramount originally approached Nicholas Holt (Warm Bodies, X-Men: First Class) and Garrett Hedlud (Inside Llewyn Davies) to read for the role. Both of the young actors passed. Since then, the studio has been looking at lesser known actors. Next Monday, Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher), Boyd Holbrook (The Host),Tom Cocquerel (Walk Right In), Wilson Bethel (Generation Kill) and Sam Reid (Hatfields & McCoys) will all be reading for the coveted role.
The names are familiar but are far from being big stars, so its possible this project could be a launching point for the person who lands the role. We still don’t know much about the plot for the film, but it’s a safe bet that time travel will be a big part of it. Not to mention that Emilia Clarke and all of these actors are younger than Jason Clarke. Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor is directing the film. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also expected to reprise his iconic role as the Terminator.
It was also announced that filming on the project will begin this April down in New Orleans, so we can expect to see a lot more casting news headed our way in the near future.
Update: TERMINATOR: GENESIS begins filming on April 21st in New Orleans.
