Geoff Johns’ Second DC Series May Be The SUPERMAN Monthly
Bleeding Cool has been sniffing around the world of DC for news on Geoff Johns‘s next project. They reported back in November that one of the reason Johns stepped away from several titles and scaled back his monthly writing duties was because he was asked to scale it back to no more than two books so he could do more as one of DC‘s top executives. He dropped Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Justice League of America to focus on the big Forever Evil event and some DC movie and TV projects. We know that after Forever Evil the only thing he has on his plate is the Justice League. Well Bleeding Cool think they’ve found out what his second book will be.
According to the site’s well-connected newspaper source, Johns‘ second book will be the Superman monthly that is currently being written by Scott Lobdell with Kenneth Rocafort. Lobdell recently announced he was off Teen Titans, so this would be the second big title he’s had to step away from. The site says we can expect to see Lobdell as part of the weekly and anthology titles next. The most interesting part of Johns joining Superman every month is that he’s supposedly going to be working with artist John Romita Jr. The Marvel superstar’s exclusive contract ended and he’s working on some creator-owned projects as well as something for DC. If JRJR is indeed working with Johns on Superman, I know a lot of fans are going to be very excited. This would also mark a return to Superman (other than the Justice League) for Johns, who had a big run on Action Comics. What do you think? Would you like to see Johns and Romita Jr. take on the Man of Steel?
