Geoff Johns Clears Up The Name Confusion With The Wonder Woman Pilot

Last night a report came out about the CW’s Wonder Woman origin story show tentatively called Amazon. The character breakdown for the lead was released along with the news that the search is underway for an actress. Within said report, the lead character was called Iris. Many were concerned that the changes were already starting with the name switch from the original Diana to Iris. To clear up some of the confusion, DC’s own Geoff Johns took to his Twitter to ease some of the fan outrage:
If a WW show happens her name is of course DIANA. Codenames (like IRIS) are used in casting a lot to try and avoid speculation. #TV101

So that’s the name sorted at least. Many met the news of the show with less than enthusiasm since most were hoping WB would focus on Wonder Woman as a film instead of a TV show. With Justice League coming in 2015, WB will have to find a balance between their TV shows and what they would like to do with the movies. What do you think? Did Johns put your mind at ease for now at least?
