Forget LUKE CAGE, Idris Elba Wants To Join The GREEN LANTERN CORPS
The last few days there have been reports that Idris Elba was in talks for Luke Cage at one point in time. That quote came from a Huffington Post piece where the actor said “There was talk about Luke Cage at one time — I thought Luke Cage was a pretty interesting character. They were going to do it, but I don’t know what happened…” I’m not entirely sold that he actually talked to Marvel as some have been reporting, or if he was just talking about Cage in general, but that doesn’t matter too much. The actor has repeatedly said he’s open to a big comic book role that puts him at the forefront. Fans have been throwing the actors name around for John Stewart for years. With the Green Lantern movie being an absolute disaster in every sense of the word, and DC expanding their movie universe, it’s not outside of the realm of possibility that they would go with a different Lantern of sector 2814. Elba is definitely open to the idea.
There have been Green Lantern fan posters with Elba‘s likeness floating around for years. The actor hasn’t really mentioned them before, but today he responded to a fan that sent him a Green Lantern movie reboot poster. I guess with all the superhero talk about Elba lately got him looking into what people think he would be a good fit for. Heimdall is an important part of Thor, but Elba doesn’t play such a major role that it would feel odd if he jumped over to the other side and took on a role. He was in Ghostrider 2 after all. Do you think Elba is igniting a new spark in the never ending fan campaign to get him a starring comic book movie role? Do you think he’s the best fit for John Stewart?
