Five Big Actresses Up For Captain America Role: Black Widow To Drop By?

by

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier ready to start filming March of next year, and the addition of Anthony Mackie as The Falcon it was only a matter of time before we got word on more additions. This time around it is a possible love interest for Steve Rogers and the names may surprise you. Also, will Black Widow be checking in?

Deadline is reporting that a short list of five big actresses is being considered by directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo for a character they’re aren’t sure about but is probably a new love interest. Marc Graser says the word he is hearing is that it’s for Sharon Carter (who of course is the family of Cap’s first love, Peggy Carter). The names on the list” Emilia Clarke (Khaleesi on Game of Thrones), Jessica Findlay Brown (Downton Abby), Imogen Poots, and Alison Brie (Five Year Engagement), and Teresa Palmer. All of the actresses are testing for the role, and I’m sure an announcement will be made before too long.

And it looks like more heroes than Falcon will be popping up. Twitter exploded before the announcement with the likes of Variety’s Jeff Sneider and Marc Graser confirming Black Widow’s appearance.

The addition of Black Widow isn’t a huge surprise since Cap’s sequel is set post-Avengers and will reportedly involve S.H.I.E.L.D. Add to that Widow’s relationship with Bucky in the comics, and you have a pretty meaty story for her.  The short list of actresses on the other hand is pretty impressive. Any one of those ladies would be a great addition. Who would be your choice for Cap’s possible love interest? Are you surprised about the Widow news?
