First Trailer For NBC’s CONSTANTINE Drops
News hit earlier this week that NBC had officially ordered Constantine to series. While fans were happy to hear that news made all official like, they were even happier with the release of a new still showing off Matt Ryan as the titular character. Today those same folks should be ecstatic that first trailer for the highly-anticipated series about the hellblazing, blonde-haired, sarcastic fighter of the supernatural has hit (with a tip of the hat to @_NerdyGeek_). The official YouTube channel and Facebook page for the show unveiled the video clocking in well over 3-minutes long that gives us our first glimpse at the series and our first real indication of the tone it is shooting for.
The extended trailer gives us a fantastic rundown of what’s in store for Constantine and where we find our anti-hero in the opening episode. Constantine is usually in a rough spot, but this is something else entirely. The series seems to have a good balance of the dark, gritty, and supernatural elements of the series fans loves so much with an equal dose of John‘s sarcastic and dark sense of humor to keep it from being too much. This is a surprisingly jam-packed trailer considering this is the first one. You can see it all for yourself below. Constantine stars the aforementioned Ryan with Lucy Griffiths playing Liv. Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford also star with writer Daniel Cerone (“The Mentalist,” “Dexter”) serving as executive producer with David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “The Dark Knight Rises”) lending a hand as well. What do you think about our first peek at Constantine? The show will airs Fridays at 10pm EST this fall.
Based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan, “Criminal Minds”) specializes in giving hell… hell. Armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and his wickedly naughty wit, he fights the good fight — or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to leave his do-gooder life behind, but when demons target Liv (Lucy Griffiths, “True Blood”), the daughter of one of Constantine’s oldest friends, he’s reluctantly thrust back into the fray – and he’ll do whatever it takes to save her. Before long, it’s revealed that Liv’s “second sight” — an ability to see the worlds behind our world and predict supernatural occurrences — is a threat to a mysterious new evil that’s rising in the shadows. Now it’s not just Liv who needs protection; the angels are starting to get worried too. So, together, Constantine and Liv must use her power and his skills to travel the country, find the demons that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.
