First Trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire is Here
It has been about seven years since Zack Snyder wowed not just comic book fans but general movie goers with his adaptation of 300, the tale of 300 Spartan warriors who stood against the powerful army of Xerxes. The film was visually stunning, using a green screen in new and impressive ways. Along with that, 300 took stylized violence to an entirely new level. The film, however, was not a financial success, but fans wanted more. It’s taken a few years and some work, but the sequel is scheduled for a March 2014 release and we have our first trailer.
Zack Snyder opted to step out of the director’s role for the sequel and stayed on the project as a producer and a writer with Noam Murro coming in to helm the film. This go-round, we follow Greek general Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) as he takes on the god-like Xerxes, who depends on Artemisia (Eva Green) to lead his armies. Rodrigo Santoro returns to play Xerxes, with Lena Headey and David Wenham reprising their roles of Queen Gorgo and Dilios, respectively.
