We had heard some casting news from James Mangold’s The Wolverine, but now we have our first real look since production is now underway. Australia’s 7News caught a sneak peek at filming in a WWII concentration camp set up in Kurnell.
Star Hugh Jackman tweeted this earlier today.

IGN had this nice little bit explaning the WWII connection:
In the Marvel comics, Logan was a soldier in World War II when he was caught on a sabotage mission in Japan in 1945. He was incarcerated at a prison camp in Nagasaki along with fellow soldier and mutant Lt. Ethan Warren. The pair escaped, finding refuge with a local girl, Atsuko, and her family. Warren eventually went bad, killing Atsuko, before he and Wolverine were caught in the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. Thanks to his mutant recuperative powers, Logan survived the blast.
Forgive the newscaster for calling it a sci-fi film, but here is the full set video. Thanks to ComingSoon for the heads up.

Hope it’s not a quick flashback montage like in Origins. Thumbs down if it is!
