First ROBOCOP Clip Turns The Mediocrity (And Yodeling) Up To 11
The first official clip from the RoboCop remake has hit and it is overpowering, in a musical sense at least. Our first look at the modern take on the ultra-violent 80s flick from director Jose Padilha comes via IGN and features Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) testing out his new body as OmniCorp puts him through is paces. This may actually be a decent clip, but the odd musical choices completely overpowers it. There’s even yodeling for RoboCop‘s sake! The scene is slightly reminiscent of Hit-Girl‘s big scene in Kick-Ass in a way. The film also stars Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley. It will finally hit theaters after a few delays on February 7th. What do you think of the first clip? Could this be a modern cult favorite like Judge Dredd, or is this an unnecessary remake?
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
