First Look At Geoff Johns’ Final Issue Of Green Lantern
Green Lantern fans were sad to hear that Geoff Johns would be stepping down from his writing duties after nearly a decade. Johns has reinvented the wheel when it comes to the GL mythos, introducing major things like the emotional spectrum and different colored corps. All good things must come to an end though. The writer’s landmark final issue will come with May’s Green Lantern #20. The 66-page story will include 55 pages of art by series artist Doug Mahnke and special appearances from artists Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis, Patrick Gleason, Cully Hammer, Aaron Kuder, Jerry Ordway, and a few more. DC have promised the final four story pages “will make your head explode.” The giant-sized issue will also have a look back and farewell from the writer as he looks at his nine-year run. DC have released the below preview pages as well as a few words from the man himself. Johns said of his time on the title:
I’m extremely grateful for being able to conclude our run on Green Lantern with this monster of an issue. I’m moving on feeling very proud of what my creative collaborators and I have done over the years with the Green Lantern universe. Thanks to all the readers out there who’ve been with us for this adventure. I can’t wait until #20 is in your hands — the last several pages in particular.
