Everyone Called It: William Fichtner IS Playing Shredder In Ninja Turtles
This isn’t as much a news story as confirmation on what everyone had pretty much figured out already- William Fichtner will be playing Shredder in the Ninja Turtles film. Fichtner recently spoke with The Huffington Post in Canada about his new show for NBC, Crossing Lines. The interview started out running through some of thing things he will be appearing in soon like The Lone Ranger and of course TMNT. He was asked what he was doing in the later, and he just came right out and said it:
I play Shredder. It is cool. It’s one of those things that came along where I thought, “Really? Let me think about this for a minute.” [Laughs] Then I was like, “Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.” I’m very glad that it worked out, I’m really glad that I’m doing it.
It’s odd that he laughs and says he had to think about it for a few minutes. A lot of fans might think he had the same reservations they do having heard about early drafts of the film and how Michael Bay riled fans up by dropping Teenage and Mutant from the title. We’re not 100% positive if they’re back in, but people are saying they probably are. Then again Fichtner could be talking about the physicality of the role. I’m sure we’ll see him doing some action and fighting with the Turtles or Splinter before the stuntman takes over. Who knows. Regardless of the reason, the film is well underway. Michael Bay is producing, Jonathan Liebesman is directing, and the current release date is June 6, 2014. What do you think about Fichtner as Shredder?
