Does Jim Carrey Have a Role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

PHJOtO72pc6BMO_1_mComedian and actor Jim Carrey has made some big waves in Hollywood in recent months having withdrawn his support for the upcoming release of Kick-Ass 2, in which he plays Col. Stars & StripesCarrey felt that the film is just too violent and after the events that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary. Carrey has refused to do any promotional or marketing work for the film. The Kick-Ass sequel will likely profit from this regardless, so I don’t think Jeff Wadlow and company will have anything to worry about.

So,, what’s next for Jim Carrey? It’s possible that he may have shifted over to a new comic book movie franchise. Way back in March, Danny Browne (@dannypbrowne) was visiting the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, where he happen to see that Carrey was on the set and he was able to snap the pic to the right, which he tweeted with the following message:

“It’s Jim Carrey! #sorrynotsorry he came to the spiderman set today! I wonder what he’s doing there!!!”

The tweet has pretty much flown under the radar with little to no attention. That is, until an insider from the production of the film hinted that a major comedic actor had signed on to play a minor part in the film that would eventually lead to a major part in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4. But who is the comedian and what is the role? If we want to speculate, we could obviously point our fingers at this pic and say that Jim Carrey will be playing a role in next year’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. As for the role, MovieWeb speculates that Carrey could either be playing the loud and outspoken head of the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson or, he could be showing up in a cameo as Kletus Kassady, who eventually transforms into Carnage.

With the Sinister Six being rumored for future film, it certainly is possible that Carnage may make an appearance, but I don’t think you can introduce Carnage with out first bringing Venom to the story. If Carrey is involved with the project, and that is a very big IF, my money is on Jameson. Having said all that, we’re making this speculation off a pic of Carrey that was found on Twitter. I’m not putting too much faith in this and would talk this all with a big dose of salt.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens next May and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Feliticty Jones, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Sally Field and Colm Feore.
