DOCTOR WHO Prequel ‘THE NIGHT OF THE DOCTOR’ Features The Most Surprising Cameo Of All

nightThe prequel minisode for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special The Day of The Doctor has been released by the BBC. The longest minisode to date, The Night of The Doctor also features one of the most jam-packed stories for a prequel ever. There’s not one but TWO Doctors involved with the adventure. The Sisterhood of Karn features as well, so you know something very big is going to happen. The biggest surprise of all comes within the first few seconds. Go ahead an watch it and we’ll discuss below the video.

That’s right, Paul McGann is back! Fans have been holding out hope his Doctor would return and regenerate on screen, and Steven Moffat delivers. McGann gets a pretty good final adventure (all things considered) and even mentions his Big Finish Audio companions. This opens up a can of worms of whether or not they are canon, but that’s a different article entirely. Now that John Hurt is The War Doctor, that also raises the question of whether or not he counts as a full regeneration. From his reflection at the end it seems he’s the longest surviving Doctor unless he ages very, very fast. The prequel gives us a lot to be happy about but it also raises a lot of questions. Hopefully all will be revealed when The Day of The Doctor airs next Saturday. What do you think about The Night of The Doctor?
