DEATHLOK Is Heading To AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Plus LADY SIF’s Guest Role Explained
Big news is coming out of the Television Critics Association event tonight. Marvel dropped some big news regarding Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and two big comic book characters that will soon be making an appearance. One will be the result of an existing character undergoing some drastic changes while the other is an explanation of why Jaimie Alexander will appear as Lady Sif on an upcoming episode.
The Marvel and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Twitter feeds were running down the panel highlights where it was revealed that Cybertek and the Deathlok Program will play a large role in an upcoming episode. J. August Richards’ Mike Peterson will be transformed into the cybernetic soldier who was most recently seen as a staff member of Wolverine’s Jean Grey School. There have been many different Deathloks throughout the years, so there isn’t one definitive version the show will adapt. Marvel.Com said of the character’s upcoming appearance:
Transformed into the cybernetic solider against his will, Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) must struggle to find the man in the machine. With a high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg, will Deathlok fight alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or against them?
S.H.I.E.L.D. Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell said “We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson’s story arc is an origin story. We’re thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show.” When Mike Peterson had a nasty injury in the mid-season finale and looked to be in rough shape during the teaser in the final moments of the mid-season return, fans started to speculate that Richards could be playing Deahtlok. Regardless of how many saw it coming, Richards is excited. The actor stated “If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I’m so excited to be one now as an adult on TV! It’s a dream come true.“
In other S.H.I.E.L.D. news, Stan Lee will cameo in the February 4th episode, which is also said to mark the debut of Deathlok. More importantly, it was revealed that Lady Sif’s appearance (on an unspecified date) will take place because she has returned to Midgard to track down and capture Lorelei. The femme fatale from the Thor comics will be played by Smallville’s Elena Satine. So Sif and Deathlok are on their way, though we can expect bigger things from Mike Peterson. People originally thought Richards was playing Luke Cage or Rage, but it turns out to be Deathlok. What do you think about the development?
