DC Teases A New Origin For The Joker And Big Things For Bane During Villains Month
DC have been using the What’s New in The New 52 section of their blog to tease big things that are getting ready to happen in the DCU. Most of the teasers have related to redesigned villains who are getting ready to debut in a new story. Today’s teasers are for two of Batman‘s biggest bads that have already shown up in the comics, but are getting ready to go through something new.
This September is DC‘s Villains Month, where some of our heroes’ most notorious rogues will take over a comic for one issue to cause chaos and mayhem. One of those issues will feature the Joker in a story set before any of the previous stories told in the DC New 52. Andy Kubert and artist Andy Clarke will hint at a possible new origin for the Clown Prince of Crime, as you can see in the teaser below.
This September, The Joker will once again get the last laugh.
During Villains Month, witness an untold tale of The Joker that takes place before any of the #1 issues in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. Written by Andy Kubert and illustrated by Andy Clarke, this unique one-shot will not only hint at a possible origin for The Joker, but will also feature the origin of a classic Batman villain who folks might not suspect as having ties to the Clown Prince of Crime.
Above, check out Clarke’s design for The Joker.
After Villains Month, the fallout will continue shortly thereafter in Forever Evil. The villains will team up to take advantage of the void left after the Trinity War. One of the spinoff titles will be Arkham War. The inmates of the Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Prison will be set loose on a Batman free Gotham City. Bane and Scarecrow will feature in a Villains Month one-shot to lay the groundwork featuring the return of Bane‘s co-creator Graham Nolan. Nolan redesigned Bane’s costume slightly and took it back to something closer to his Pre-52 look.
Arkham War is coming.
Spinning out of the events of FOREVER EVIL, FOREVER EVIL: ARKHAM WAR finds the inmates of both Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Prison unleashed upon a Batman-less Gotham City. But before you pick up that mini-series, you’ll want to read the Villains Month one-shots starring Scarecrow and Bane, which set the stage for this epic brawl.
Bane’s one-shot is not only the quintessential Bane story (mark my words!), but it also sees the return of the character’s co-creator, Graham Nolan! Above, check out Nolan’s new take on this classic Dark Knight villain, and brace yourself for a war that will change the way you see Gotham City forever.
