DC Decides April Won’t Be WTF Certified

Remember the WTF Certified logo DC said they’d be slapping on all their books this April? The idea was to help promote the fact every comic would feature a gatefold cover that would reveal a scene that makes the reader exclaim the three words the abbreviation stands for. It turns out now that DC told WTF to hit the bricks.
According to Robot 6, Dan Didio told attendees of last week’s ComicsPro meeting that the logo won’t appear on any comics this April because “we don’t need it.” Apparently Didio said that people have talked about the gatefold covers and the WTF logo enough that there’s a lot of awareness about the event among readers and store owners. It seems like there is a lot more to this story than already getting enough awareness out of it. DC may have had second thoughts about using the acronym. They already created and put the logo out, to pull back now seems like they are trying to pull back and squash some of the backlash. What do you think? Should April’s comics have WTF plastered on the cover?
