Dc Comics New 52 : Vibe #1 Review

DC Comics New 52 Vibe #1 is something I didn’t expect to find myself reading, Vibe in general as a character was before my time, and then just looking him up and reading about him you could tell he wasn’t the best character out there. He was a break dancer, had a bit of power, and wound up getting killed as a Teen Titan, really for the old version of Vibe that’s all you need to know. Enter Geoff Johns and his inane ability to not only write a great story, but develop a character that was wholly unlikeable and make that character a strong one with a great back story. With the creative team of Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg, Pete Woods, and Sean Parsons Vibe #1 not only took me by complete and total surprise, it made me re-read it and put it on my list of books to pick up.
The origin of Vibe is one of tragedy like most heroes, but the difference is he didn’t go looking to be a hero after his brother save him, he went to work to save money and go to college. Vibe starts off right before Justice League of America #1 and shows the reader how he was found, where his powers actually came from, and why Waller picked him to be on the JLA in the first place.
A definite pickup for fans of Johns or people who want to see if someone can actually make Vibe a good character.
