DC Comics Launches Before Watchmen Viral Site

If you’re a fan of the original Watchmen graphic novel, you surely know the controversial periodical called New Frontiersman, which appears in the story. Always publishing articles with acidic social and political criticism, it is usual to see Rorschach reading it and it’s where he sends his diary at the end of the saga.

This special first edition, dated August 2, 1977, has an editorial from Hector Godfrey – the fictional editor of the publication, which appears on the last page of the graphic novel – and an article by Seymour Smith’s assistant, the same one that at the end of the story finds Rorschach’s journal.

It also presents a story about masked vigilantes with the classic question Who Watches the Watchmen?”. This article is signed by Doug Roth, reporter for the Nova Express, who was present at the Dr. Manhattan press conference and reveals that several well-known hero’s got cancer, implying that this was by living with him.

Looking in the text, there are links to profiles on Twitter and Facebook, as well as part of a censured script and a link to a Latin phrase, in Wikipedia.
