DC Announces Two Really Odd Batman-Related Books For October
DC Comics is once again expanding their Batman family of comics with the introduction of two rather odd books launching this October. EW unveiled the covers for the two ongoing titles along with some very brief details. One sees Arkham Asylum moving to a new location and the other feels a little Tumblr-y.
Gerry Duggan (Deadpool) and artist Shawn Crystal will be working on Arkham Manor, which is described as a book looking at what happens when “stately Wayne Manor gets made over into the local psycho dungeon, and, perhaps predictably, some inmates wind up dead.” The other book is called Gotham Academyand is from Becky Cloonan and Brendan Fletcher with art from Karl Kerschl. That series is described as a “new monthly teen drama set at Gotham City’s most prestigious prep school. Bruce Wayne is a benefactor; other familiar characters may pop up in Academy’s twisted, teenybopping universe.“
Newsarama confirmed with DC that both books are considered New 52 in-continuity. That means that something will happen to Arkham Asylum in the next few months that necessitates the big change. What that means for Bruce Wayne and Alfred‘s living situation (and the Batcave) remains to be seen. Those are some out of the box books with some out of the box premises, but we’ll just have to wait and see how things unfold. What do you think? Are you judging these books by their covers?
