David Morrissey Teases A Surprising Governor/Rick Face Off

walking-dead-midseason-premiere-3-2013-governor-rick-amcIt’s the first day of February, which means we are a mere 9 days away from the return of The Walking Dead. As we mark off the last few days on our calendars, the cast are making the rounds talking about what’s coming up. David “The Governor” Morrissey recently spoke to SFX and dropped an interesting teaser.

We know that everything is building up to a Governor/Rick showdown, but Morrisssey says that the showdown may play out in an unexpected way:

What I’ve liked about the season so far is that it’s full of surprises. Obviously the stars might be aligned for Rick and the Governor to have some sort of meeting, but maybe the show will shoot that in a very surprising way. I think it’s not going to give you what you want in the way that you want it, and I think that’s what I’ve enjoyed in the second half of the season.

As an audience you can see that no one’s safe and there are surprises within that. What’s great about The Walking Dead is that it’s not frightened of killing off its leading actors.

This season has diverted from the comics more than the previous seasons, so the final showdown between the Governor and Rick’s group could play out in an entirely different and unexpected way. Morrissey is a pretty straightforward guy, so I’d expect his bit about “maybe the show will shoot that in a very surprising way” to be very true. The actor also said he hasn’t practiced his zombie walk because you never want to do that and tempt fate. What do you think about the Governor/Rick showdown? How do you think it will go down?
