The CW Churns Out Another DC Show: iZombie Is On Deck
Pretty soon the C in The CW is going to have to be stand for ‘Comic book.’ Trying not to be outdone by Marvel’s big Netflix announcement earlier today, it was just announced that The CW is working on a new TV show based on yet another DC property. The Vertigo series from Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, iZombie, will be turned into a TV show thanks to the Veronica Mars crew according to Deadline.
Rob Thomas is reuniting with his Veronica Mars movie co-writer, Diane Ruggiero, for the supernatural crime procedural about a “med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.” Thomas and Ruggiero will executive produce the series. This joins the potential Flash spinoff and the recently announced Hourman and Avenger series The CW is working on as the latest DC property to get the small screen treatment. Zombies are at the peak of their popularity, so The CW wants to get in on the action before the bubble pops. Roberson’s series was fantastic, so it’s a good comic to adapt to TV. The CW is digging deep into the DC catalog and it will be interesting to see what they may pull out next. What do you think about iZombie getting the TV treatment.
