Cobie Smulders Wants More Action As Agent Maria Hill
Cobie Smulders had a strong outing as Agent Maria Hill in The Avengers, but she really solidified her place in the Marvel universe with her appearance in the pilot episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. While Agent Hill is a big presence wherever she’s shown up so far, she really hasn’t seen much action. She got to empty a clip or two from her sidearm during the Hellicarrier attack but that’s about it. In a recent interview with IGN, Smulders said she wants to get in on the action and stunt work if she comes back for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Smulders was out promoting her new movie Delivery Man, which also includes the Star-Lord Chris Pratt, when she was asked some Marvel. We don’t know how big of a part she’ll have in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but from her comments here we can probably infer that she doesn’t get too much action. Said Smulders when asked if she’d be back for Age of Ultron:
I don’t know for sure about Avengers 2. I don’t really know until I read a script, and I haven’t read a script yet. I’d love to be a part of anything that Marvel does because they do things so well. Agent Hill…I’d love to see her get some more fieldwork. She’s stuck in the office a lot so I’d like to see her in the ground. We’ll see what happens. I like to do stunts! I just really want to do more stunts, yeah.
While we’ll have to wait and see if Smulders gets to throw some punches at the Winter Soldier and his associates next year, could we possibly see Hill return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before then? The actress’ schedule is a little more open with How I Met Your Mother ending, but she says it’s just a wait and see game for now. Smulders may be keeping her cards close to her chest with her reply of “I’m not sure yet. I’m just finishing this season of How I Met Your Mother then we’ll see what happens.” We didn’t know Maria Hill was in the pilot until about a week beforehand when images were released, so it’s entirely possible they might try to sneak her in before the end of the season. What do you think about Smulder‘s comments? Do you hope to see a lot more Hill on TV and in the movies?
