CinemaCon Footage of The Wolverine Slices its Way Online

wolverine_poster_jp_fullThere are quite a few comic book properties finding their way onto the big screen this year, some new and a few sequels and reboots. One of the sequels, though it’s not really a sequel, is James Mangold’s The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman. We finally got to see a trailer a few weeks back, after a longer than usual wait. The trailer didn’t help some of those folks who have reservations with this franchise, especially after the last solo film for Wolverine. With this film, however, comes one of the most iconic story lines in comic history, so that will hopefully take things to a new level, and with Hugh Jackman touting this as one of the best comic book scripts he’s read, there a certain expectation this film has to meet.

Today, the footage that was shown at this year’s CinemaCon has been released and it features a few new tidbits we haven’t previously seen, including Will Yun Lee’s Kenuichio Harada in the full Silver Samurai armor, so feel free to geek out over that, as it looks great. The Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rila Fukushima, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Tao Okamoto and we can expect a cameo by Famke Janssen as well.

In modern day Japan, Wolverine is out of his depth in an unknown world as he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
