This used to be feature I did on another website. After frequenting this site for around 6 months I feel like I’ve finally found a home here on CBT. So without further adieu I present CBM’s From Around The World!
Now, I’m a huge fan of Donnie Yen so I’ve decided to give this a shot.
Coming at you from China!
Dragon Tiger Gate (Lu Fu Moon)

Dragon Tiger Gate is based on the manhua Oriental Heroes created by Wong Yuk-Long.

Dragon Tiger Gate is directed by Wilson Yip.
MINI REVIEW
Dragon Tiger Gate is the name of the martial arts academy established by two powerful martial arts masters. The goal of the academy is to maintain and uphold justice and battle the evil triads. The movie is about two brothers separated at a young age only to find each other again and destroy the triads. Now, I found this movie a little hard to follow because I watched the dubbed version, which really is a little campy. I found myself not really caring about any of the characters either. The fight scenes were fantastic, and really the only reason I wanted to watch this. So, as usual Donnie Yen delivered as choreographer. The computer effects seemed a little behind the times for a movie made in 2006, but overall not too bad. The movie tried to be dark and gritty, but it came off more like Batman and Robin, which we all know sucked to the tenth degree. The movie felt contrived in some areas even in some of the fight scenes, they just seemed really forced. Was there a love story? Honestly, I have no idea. I skipped through some parts to get to the next fight scene.
Overall the movie was not a bad waste of my Saturday night. Could it have been better? Yeah, but the fight scenes more than made up for the story’s shortcomings. I rate this movie a 6/10. Strong fight scenes and sluggish story make this good for a Saturday with nothing else to do.
