Bryan Cranston Sets The Record Straight About Those LEX LUTHOR Rumors

by

lex luthorLast year a rumor was started that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was in talks to be Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder‘s Batman vs. Superman. Time and time again those rumors were shot down, but they kept building steam over the months since they were let loose on the internet. When Cranston joined a Broadway production, the rumors finally died down. When Jesse Eisenberg landed the role, the Cranston talk died once and for all. Well now the actor has set the record straight about the entire ordeal.

While appearing on The Howard Stern Show Tuesday morning, Cranston was asked if there as any fire to all that Luthor smoke. The actor told Stern (via MLive.Com):

In the minds of fans, it’s true. In the minds of the hierarchy of Warner Brothers, it’s not true. I was not involved in any of that whatsoever.

Just because Cranston was never offered the role doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have jumped at the opportunity if it would have been offered. When asked if it was even something he would consider for his first role post-Braking Bad, the actor said “Oh, oh, I would have welcomed it. That would’ve been a [once in a lifetime opportunity]; I think so!” While Cranston would have made an interesting Luthor, it turns out the idea never made it past the fan cast stage. Snyder and company are obviously going younger and a little more edgier with their Luthor, so we’ll have to wait and see what Eisenberg can bring to the role. What do you think about Cranston putting the rumors to rest? Would you have liked to seen him as Lex in Batman vs. Superman?
