Brandon Routh Gets Another Shot At Superhero Glory; Joins ARROW As The Atom
Here’s some surprising news- Superman Return‘s Brandon Routh has joined the third season of Arrow as Ray Palmer aka The Atom. TV Line has learned that the former Man of Steel will now be the man of the atom as he joins the hit CW series in a very important recurring role. Not only does this mark Routh‘s return to the superhero game, it is also the first live-action appearance of The Atom on the big or (more fittingly) small screen.
The site says that Ray Palmer will be an “unparalleled scientist and inventor” who will “play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery.” It sounds like Felicity will be moving on from her little crush on Barry Allen if this info proves to be true. And if it is indeed true, it sounds like anyone that wants to be a superhero needs to get involved with Felicity. Barry does some flirting, goes home, gets struck by lightning, and then he’s a superhero. Now Ray will come in, flirt, and then probably get his super secret Applied Sciences Division project off the ground. What do you think about Routh not only returning to DC but bringing the publisher’s little hero to life? Are you surprised they’ll beat Ant-Man to the tiny punch?
