BOOM! Announces Creative Team For The BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Comic
Wednesday BOOM! Studios dropped an interesting teaser poster for a Big Trouble In Little China comic. There was no creative team, release date, or even a full look at Kurt Russell as Jack Burton, but fans of the John Carpenter cult classic got pretty excited. At the ComicsPRO retailer conference in Atlanta today, the company announced their creative team for the new series.
CBR reports that BOOM! revealed that the series would be written by Goon creator Eric Powell (who illustrated the teaser image) with interior art by Brian Churilla. Carpenter is said to be on board as an “active consultant.” There have been attempts at bringing the movie into the world of comics several times since it’s release, but nobody had been able to pull it off. Top Cow teased a version at Comic-Con in 2009 but that never saw print. A lot of writers have said they would love to write the series, but Powell is the lucky winner. It’s all in the reflexes, so I guess Powell‘s were the best. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about Big Trouble In Little China in the coming months. What do you think about Jack Burton getting the comic book treatment?
