Bill Paxton Goes In Guns Blazing In A New AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Clip; Clark Gregg Says The Ratings Are ‘Superb’

shieldAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will come back from its extended Winter Olympics break next week with a brand new episode featuring newcomers Bill Paxton and B.J. Britt as Agents Garrett and Triplett, respectively. The duo will be recurring characters on the show for the remainder of the first season as well. Marvel has released the first clip for that episode, titled T.A.H.I.T.I, showing off Garrett and company infiltrating a base of some sorts. Everyone seems well armed, but Coulson barges in with nothing more than a suit and a smile. We’ll have to see what happens when you bring a suit to a semi-automatic gun fight. The new episode will air March 4th.

Speaking of Coulson, Clark Gregg recently weighed in on the concerns about the show’s ratings. The overnight figures had been in a state of free fall, but they’ve recently leveled out. Those numbers are pretty low, however they expand quite a bit when you factor in DVR viewers and people who watch the show online. For that reason Gregg says that the ratings are actually “superb.” The actor expanded on that thought saying (via Digital Spy), “If you look at how well our show is doing in those numbers, I’m quite encouraged, especially because we aren’t Tony Stark and Thor. We’re a bunch of new people and Agent Coulson, the supporting player from those [Marvel] films. I actually am really proud of the way that we’ve set up this world slowly,” he continued. “Sure, there’s some ‘finding your way’ that had to happen… and I’m happy that we’ve moved past that phase.

The show really is starting to find its feet, so hopefully the injection of new blood with Paxton and the appearance of Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif (which we saw pictures of earlier today) will be the extra boost the first season needs. What do you think about the first clip? Have you changed your mind about the show now that things seem to be picking up?
