Benicio Del Toro Joins Guardians Of The Galaxy
Another big name has been added to the impressive cast list for James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie starts filming next month, and the race to finish filling in the last few roles has been going strong. We’ve heard about John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Karen Gillan, and now we can add Benicio Del Toro. It seems the actor will be signing on for a pretty meaty role.
Deadline is reporting that the actor has signed a contract with options that will put him in multiple movies. Now that doesn’t come as too big of a surprise, but this is the first time that has been specifically mentioned in any of the Guardians casting news. The role is being kept under wraps for now, but we can safely assume it’s going to be a big part. Deadline says it is a lead role in their article’s title. Now the cosmic character list Marvel has means there are unlimited possibilities as to who he may be playing, but a lot of Twitter buzz is throwing Adam Warlock and Thanos‘ name out. Damion Poitier portrayed the Mad Titan in the Avengers credits scene, but that was a non-speaking role. It has been said that Marvel would cast a more well known actor for the role, and Del Toro does play menacing guys well. He was supposed to play Kahn in Star Trek Into Darkenss, but he backed out close to filming. What do you think about Del Toro joining the Guardians? Any guesses on who he’ll be?
