Ben Kingsley Working On A New ‘Secret MARVEL Project’ But What Is It?

mandarinHere’s some odd and surprising Marvel news that happened today- Sir Ben Kingsley has revealed he is working on a brand new project. The studio’s involvement with the legendary actor doesn’t appear to be ending with the release of Iron Man 3. The actor told The Belfast Telegraph (via ComingSoon) that he’s teaming back up with the crew that made the financially successful but fan dividing threequel:

It’s a secret Marvel project. I’m not allowed to say any more, you’re going to have to wait and see. I was with many members of the crew that were involved in Iron Man 3. It was lovely to see them again. It was great to be with this wonderful family.

Now here’s where the guesswork and editorializing come in. Kingsley says he was with the crew for Iron Man 3. Past tense, so he has either completed the project or filmed a good chunk of whatever he’s working on. Now the safe bet is that Kingsley filmed a post-credits scene for an upcoming film (probably The Winter Soldier) or a part for an upcoming one-shot. If it is indeed a one-shot, that means it will be included with the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray/DVD. The long shot is that it’s something for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., though it would be unlikely considering the Iron Man 3 crew shot the scene(s).

That’s just the most obvious possibilities we can think of right now. As far as the actual content of the scene(s), who knows? Kingsley could have filmed a funny little stinger featuring Trevor adjusting to prison life. Some fans may hope that it’s a mind blowing scene where it’s revealed that he is really the Mandarin after all and the Trevor Slattery act was all a part of his larger plan. That’s probably wishful thinking, but you have to admit that would be big. While we wait to see what exactly Kingsley has done, let the speculation run wild! What do you think he’s doing for Marvel?
