Ben Affleck Finally Talks About Being Cast As Batman And The Internet’s Reaction

batman superman bannerBen Affleck appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Monday night to talk about his new movie Runner Runner, but of course Fallon used the opportunity to ask the actor about being cast as Batman. It seems everyone in Hollywood has weighed in on Batfleck except Affleck himself. Well tonight the wait is over and we hear what the man himself had to say about what made him sign up to be Gotham‘s protector Affleck also discussed the fan reaction to the announcement and how WB tried their best to prep him for the outrage that followed.

The Batman talk starts at the 1:44 mark if you want to go ahead and watch it now. Affleck says he was originally hesitant to take on the role consider he’s 45, but director Zack Snyder wanted him to come in and see what they had planned for their take on Batman. Affleck said that the plan Snyder laid out was incredible and completely different than what Christian Bale did with the role while still giving it the respect it deserves. After Affleck agreed to take on the role, they sat him down and showed him pages of reactions from fans for all the previous Batman actors over the years. They ranged from “he’ll be great” to “KILL HIM!Affleck said he was a big boy and thought he could take whatever people threw his way, so after the announcement he hopped online.  The actor explains the first comment he saw was just “Noooooooooooooooo!” and he decided to call it a day after that. Luckily it sounds like he didn’t see the real vicious stuff. Things got wild and just plain ol’ sad. Affleck said he will win fans over at Comic-Con though.
