BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Pre-Production Tidbits: Michigan Scouting, Kent Farm Construction, And Batmobile Design

batman superman bannerChristmas may be right around the corner, but the holiday rush isn’t putting a halt to pre-production on Batman vs. Superman. The highly anticipated and very secretive film is getting things ready for next year when filming officially gets underway. Kent Farm is being reconstructed, a studio in Michigan is getting preparing to house Zack Snyder‘s crew, and the Batmobile is being made as we speak. Read on for a few tidbits about the film’s production.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that some pre-production chores are going on in the city at the Michigan Motion Pictures Studio in Pontiac. It seems Snyder and company will be shooting all across Michigan, bringing more jobs to the area than any other film project ever has according to the Studios COO. The Free Press says of the film’s plans in the state “Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac will play a key role in what’s considered the biggest movie shoot ever to land in the state. The studio complex is serving as home to production offices for the Warner Bros./DC Entertainment project. When filming starts next year, all seven of the soundstages will be used. The still-untitled Superman-Batman movie is expected to occupy the complex through August.

We know that Ben Affleck will be Batman and that his costume may be influenced by Jim Lee’s art, but one thing people are anxious to hear about is the new Batmobile. We had a tank/Ferrari hybrid in the Dark Knight Trilogy, but a lot of fans are ready to get back to the old school, comic book, super modified car look. You may remember that in October the rumor hit that Batman’s new ride could be a Cadillac. While not confirming or denying that, Batman-On-Film have heard a few things about how the construction and design of the new car is going:

I was informed that the Batmobile is actually being designed and built in Warren, Michigan at GM’s famed ‘Studio X’ – the auto industry’s equivalent of Fort Knox. Or the first rule of FIGHT CLUB…
The Batmobile will then be finished at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood by February. I believe this is where the car will be tested and stunt drivers trained before the car is transported back to Detroit for filming.

And finally, we reported earlier that Kent Farm was being reconstructed in Yorkville, Illinois last month to get the area ready for a few scenes involving Martha Kent and Clark‘s boyhood home. A new pic of the set has surfaced and things are coming along rather nicely. The Kent home looks very Christmas-y covered in snow.
