BATMAN V SUPERMAN Roundup: Statues, Batmobile Wings, A Quick Cameo, LexCorp And More

batman v supermanToday has been a pretty big day for Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It has been all but official confirmed through a Warner Bros. press release that Jason Momoa will be playing Aquaman, the king of Atlantis and the Seven Seas. While we pretty well knew Momoa had a role in the film, it’s nice to know that several reputable sites are now starting to confirm it as a fact. Some other BvS tidbits have popped up throughout the day besides Momoa‘s casting though. Some new information about a weird statue we recently saw, a bit of a Batmobile update, a cameo tease, and our first look at a LexCorp building have all found their way online as well. We’ve rounded them up into one convenient location, so read on for all the latest on the Justice League prequel.

statueBatman-News posted a pretty juicy exclusive earlier today revealing two big pieces of news about the film. Their on-set sources have told them that an odd half-statue of Superman‘s costume is being used for a big scene that will probably take place early in the film. They describe the statue unveiling:

Military scenes were rumored to be filmed late last week, but I haven’t heard anything about that. What I do have are details on a big press conference scene that was shot on Friday. My source on set said that they held a big ceremony to unveil the big Superman statue. The statue was built to celebrate Superman saving the Earth in the first movie — Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice takes place about two years after the events of Man of Steel. Gotham and Metropolis news trucks and helicopters were on the scene to cover the Mayor’s speech and the statue unveiling. Elementary school kids wore “Superman Survivors” shirts and helped pull a sheet off the statue for the big reveal.

The statue that we first saw pictures of last week is said to be incomplete. The head and other body and costume parts will be added digitally in post-production.

The site also adds at the bottom of their report that they’ve been told the recently (partially) unveiled Batmobile has doors that open up like wings. The site isn’t quite sure if that means the car will transform into a Batwing, but they suspect with Superman and Wonder Woman joining up soon, that Batman will need a vehicle that can keep up with the high flyers. LexCorp scenes are also said to be shooting this week. With filming set to begin, a building standing in for the LexCorp headquarters was unveiled, offering up our first look at the new logo. It’s a little X-Meny as some have commented online, but it does keep in line with what we’re hearing of a Google-like LexCorp and Luthor.

The Daily Superhero claims to have the scoop on another big cameo in the film. We know Cyborg, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman will be popping up, but the site claims that Flash will also make a super-quick cameo as well. A scene has been said to be filmed involving a convenience store, which the site confirms, but they say it’s to show off Flash‘s power in a quick and fun way:

According to The Daily SuperHero’s insider, the scene is indeed a robbery and security cameras inside the store were used for the scene. During the convenient store robbery a sudden “flash of wind” is seen in the security camera footage and revealed to me as being a cameo tease for the Flash.

That scene is said to be used just to establish the character and his powers before going on to get a larger role in the Justice League movie. Only the security camera footage will be shown, but the site says it will be given enough of a focus to show that it’s an Easter Egg for the fan-favorite speedster.

Finally, Kevin Smith seems to confirm (or at least doesn’t deny) the recent story about DC‘s massive movie line-up schedule. During his recent Hollywood Babble-On podcast with Ralph Garman, the subject of that massive movie list was raised. Smith has an ‘in’ of sorts with Zack Snyder after hosting the Man of Steel fan event (where he saw the first picture of Ben Affleck‘s costume), so the director and funnyman does know a little about the future plans for Batman and Superman. While he didn’t get into specifics, Smith said of the recent story from Nikki Finke, “I can’t tell you, man. I know people mother f***er. I’m not allowed to say, but they showed me. I talked a couple shows back about like this universe they’re building. I looked at your list though and I was like ‘Yeah, that’s what I heard. That’s what I was told.‘”

So there you go. There’s a lot going on with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and even if it’s not all true, there are definitely going to be some huge things going on for Warner Bros. and DC. Keep it here to CBT for all the latest on DC‘s movie plans. What do you think?
