Bale Is Done With Batman & Armie Hammer Gets Giddy About A Bat-Suit

Christian-Bale-BatmanWarner Brothers still insists that they will be putting together a Justice League film, even mores so with the better-than-expected performance of Zack Snyder’s take on Superman, Man of Steel. It seems that fans, for the most part, like the darker and more grit-filled take on the big blue boy scout. Henry Cavill recently stated that he’d prefer to see a sequel to his solo film before a Justice League flick is tackled and I think most people would agree with him. One element of that team-up film is Batman, which has been up in the air ever since Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale wrapped up their trilogy last year. There have been rumors of an eventual reboot, with the possibilities of the new take on the character being introduced in the planned Justice League film. Of course, none of this has been confirmed by WB in any way.

There are two things that we do know won’t be happening, the first being Nolan won’t be returning to assist in any more Batman films, let alone comic book films in general. He served as a producer and “godfather” on Man of Steel but has stated he’s done with that for the time being. The next thing we now know is that Christian Bale won’t be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” says Bale. “Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”

This really shouldn’t come as too big a surprise as the studio has hinted they would like to take a new approach and with Nolan stepping away, that only makes sense. Bale goes on to say that he hasn’t even been contacted by the studio in any way, saying that he is aware of the potential Justice League film, but that is about it. But, even if he social_network_Armie-Hammer_05does get a call, it won’t change his mind.

“It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

Speaking of Armie Hammer almost playing Batman, the 26 year-old actor is out doing some promoting for his latest film The Lone Ranger, opposite Johnny Depp. A few years back, Hammer was cast as the Dark Knight in a film directed by George Miler and also starred Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Adam Brody as The Flash and Common as John Stewart. But for numerous reasons, Justice League: Mortal never made it to production. Armie Hammer has talked about the Bat-suit he would have worn previously, but in this video provided by HitFix, we get to hear a bit more and it sounds a bit steam-punkish.

There is a small part of me tat would love to have seen this movie get made, but most of me is quite glad it never happened. Check out the video below!! You can also see Hammer in The Lone Ranger starting July 3rd.
