B.J. Novak Says His AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Character Is From The Comics
Earlier this year director Marc Webb Tweeted a picture of The Office writer and star B.J. Novak on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The actor was confirmed for a role, but who he was playing was never specified. Many thought Novak may just be playing an assistant to one of the Osborns or even a top level OsCorp employee. In a recent interview Novak didn’t reveal who he was playing, but he does make it sound like it’s a meatier role than we originally thought.
Talking to The Huffington Post about his new movie Saving Mr. Banks, Novak was asked about his upcoming part in the Spider-Man sequel. He didn’t get too specific, but he does say it is someone from the comics:
I’m in a couple of scenes. Yeah, I was never told whether or not I could say. I can say that I work at Oscorp. And I am someone from the comic books, someone from the original. So, yeah, I’m somebody. I wouldn’t say I’m pivotal, but I’m not an extra, either.
While he may not be pivotal this time around, that doesn’t mean he won’t be in the future. There are any number of possible characters Novak could be playing, and they don’t necessarily even have to be villains. There have been numerous mentions of Spencer Smythe (who later becomes the Spider-Slayer) on the Daily Bugle Tumblr site, so that’s one possibility that springs to mind. Novak could just be one of the comic book characters who works at OsCorp as we originaly thought. We just don’t know. Who do you think he’s playing? Could you see him playing one of the numerous villains OsCorp helps create?
