Asim Ahmad Set to Play Morbius in The Amazing Spider-Man Sequel

We’ve known for a few months now that Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx will be playing Electro in the upcoming ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ sequel. In a ddition to that, we’ve seen a few new castings like Dane DeHaan playing Harry Osborn and Shailene Woodley playing the role of Mary Jane Watson. Just yesterday, it was announced that Martin Sheen would be reprising his role of Uncle Ben in a likely flashback type of role.
We have a new cast member to the anticipated film in Asim Ahmad, who has confirmed via his personal page that he will be playing the role of Professor Michael Morbius. No word on the size of the role, but with Foxx playing Electro, it’s a safe bet Morbius won’t be a huge role, possibly a set up for a potential larger role.
I’ll admit, this is a rather odd casting choice, but so is Jamie Foxx if you ask this geek. Ahmad has had a few smaller bit parts in Inception and The Dark Knight, and has also done some stunt work in the past. The site also states that he will be joining the cast of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones for it’s third season.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will be reprising their roles of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey, with Marc Webb returning to direct. The film is slated for a May 2, 2014 release date and is expected to begin filming early next year.
