ARROW Roundup: Harley Quinn, Justice League, And The Possibility Of New Heroes
Arrow is currently on it’s Summer hiatus, but will be gearing up to start shooting here soon. While training to keep up in Arrow shape is a 24/7/365 job, star Stephen Amell finds time to mingle and interact with fans by attending a few Cons every once and a while. That is what happened this weekend when he attended the Phoenix Comic Con and dropped a whole bunch of Arrow tid bits.
First on the list is something that fans around the world have been begging for, the possibility of Amell and Grant Gustin, as The Flash, appearing in the Justice League movie. Amell isn’t holding out hope, but would love to do it. “You know what? I don’t know,” he said. “I think the people that watched the Flash pilot that have seen it and saw the scene where Grant and I interact — and he’s not even in his costume — a lot of people were like, ‘that feels like the Justice League.’ And I thought it felt like the Justice League, too. I don’t know if we’ll eventually cross over into the movies but that being said, we don’t need to. The important part is that Arrow and The Flash are able to stand on their own and be appreciated for what they are and the medium that they are in. “If they wanted me to be in the Justice League movie and it worked out, that would certainly be something that I would be interested in. That being said, my most important and crucial priority is making Season Three better than Season Two.”
He also touched on the Harley Quinn cameo in the second season episode, “Suicide Squad”. “I didn’t know about any of this, by the way, because I wasn’t in that scene,” Amell explained. “But I’m a fan and I remember seeing that preview and feeling like I should have known that this was going to happen!” As most remember they hired an actress for Harley, but didn’t show her face. She was also voiced by current voice actor for the character, Tara Strong. According to Amell, Harley was suppose to appear in the season finale too, “still in the cell, still with her back to us.” However, the cameo was cut due to time constraints.
With the sucuess that Arrow has acquired, many fans are hoping to see new heroes pop up. It appears that the show runners are listening too. Amell talked a little big about new “suits” popping up where he said, “DC is a really good partner for us, and they’re giving us access to characters that they wouldn’t have even considered giving us in the first season and they wouldn’t have given us in the second season. But I think we’ve proven ourselves. I think we’ve proven that we can present a worthy version of characters that people care a lot about, and so I would imagine that there would be no shortages of DC characters coming.” He also said that we can expect to see a new superhero early on in season three. Could this be the long awaited Nightwing appearance that has been teased by the show as well as Steven McQueen?
With all the crazy stuff that happened in season two, it will be interesting to see how the showrunners up the ante for season three. While most are of the opinion they want Amell and Gustin to appear in Justice League, I would just prefer to keep the movie and TV worlds separate.
