Arrow Casts Teen Wolf Alumn Colton Haynes As Roy Harper

Arrow is gaining a new cast member next year. In a big piece of breaking news, TV Guide has found out that Teen Wolf veteran Colton Haynes will be joining Arrow as none other than Rory Harper.
Executive producer Greg Berlanti said that they were all big fans of Colton on Teen Wolf and are thrilled to have him on board. Haynes will appear in 2013 as Roy Harper, a “handsome, street-savvy, teenager from ‘the Glades,’ the harsh, poverty-stricken protion of Starling City.”
TV Guide also learned that Roy Harper will be a love interest for Ollie’s sister Thea (Willa Holland), who is oddly enough nicknamed Speedy on the show. The character breakdown states that Roy will become a significant part of Thea’s life and a big player in the world of Arrow. It sounds like Haynes will be having an important part to play, although with the way CW adapts characters he may never take up a bow and become the actual sidekick Speedy. With Thea’s history on the show, I’d say he’ll probably play a drug addict like his comic book counterpart at least. What do you think about the casting? Did you expect a Speedy who’s pretty much the same as the main hero?
