Angel Star J. August Richards Joins Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Show
Joss Whedon has added another one of his Whedonverse regulars to the cast of ABC‘s S.H.I.E.L.D. show. While the show still hasn’t officially been picked up, the pilot wrapped filming in February and has received a lot of positive buzz. TV Line is reporting that Angel‘s J. August Richards has joined on in a “super top-secret role.“
Richards played vampire-fighter turned legal mastermind Charles Gunn in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff. While details on Richards role in the new show are scarce, it seems like he’ll be more than just a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent with all the secrecy involved. Richards will join Clark Gregg, Ming-Na, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Brett Dalton, and Iain De Caestecker for the show if/when it gets picked up for series. Could Marvel introduce a big character in the TV show? A few examples easily jump to mind- the new Nick Fury Jr. or a young Sam Jackson Fury for flashback sequences are the easiest to guess, or could it even be a hero. What do you think about Richards joining Whedon again? Any guesses on who he’ll play?
