Andrew J. West Joins THE WALKING DEAD In A Mysterious New Role
The Walking Dead has been adding some iconic comic book characters into the mix this season, but they’re going to be doing something different with a character announced for the second part of season 4. The Hollywood Reporter has found out that Greek alum Andrew J. West has signed on to join the ever expanding cast of the smash-hit AMC show.
We’re still waiting for Michael Cudlitz (Abraham Ford), Josh McDermitt (Eugene) and Christian Serratos (Rosita) to be introduced, West will be joining up as a character named Gareth who is described as “a remix of sorts of an unidentified character from the series.” Gareth may be pulled from one or more characters for the comics for this so-called remix. New showrunner Scott Gimple has described his approach to the series as a remix of the comics. We’ve had some familiar scenes with Chad Coleman’s Tyreese, and it looks like we can expect some big remix style moments from The Governor in the upcoming episodes.
West’s character will appear as a guest star in the second half of season four with an option to be promoted to a series regular in the recently announced season five. So while Gareth never appears in any of the comics or novels, he’ll be based on someone familar. What do you think about the addition of West? Any guesses on who he could be based on?
