THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Viral Hints At Future Carnage

Sony has been relentless when it comes to promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2. For the better part of six months now, the web has been bombarded with trailers, teasers, posters, behind-the-scenes pics and much more, all promoting the upcoming sequel. Almost as if they think fans have forgotten about it. One of the more subtle, but interesting bits of marketing has come in the form of viral news articles coming from The Daily Bugle. The site, which is based of the paper that Peter Parker eventually works for in the comics, has revealed several little tid bits regarding characters from the first film, such as the fate of Dr. Curt Connors, as well as some that have yet to be introduced, like Jackal. As we creep ever closer to the release of the film, the viral site continues its reporting, with the latest dropping today and it hints towards a rather big character.

Fans of the Spider-Man world will instantly recognize the name Cletus Kasady as the one and only Carnage. Much like Eddie Brock, who happens to be the “author” of this piece, Kasady is transformed into a vicious villain hell-bent on destruction by a symbiote that feeds of the hate and anger within a person. More often than not, Spider-Man requires assistance when subduing Carnage, which has included Venom.

1745288-venomcarnage034djWith a Venom film being planned, with Alex Kurtzman expected not only write, but direct, many feel that Carnage would be the perfect fit for the film’s rogue.Bring in Spider-Man to assist in the final battle and you have yourself a pretty epic final battle. Sony is in the process of expanding the Spider-Man universe and I can’t imagine them not bringing Carnage in eventually.

Having said all that, this viral piece is in no way confirmation that Cletus Kasady, let alone Carnage, will show up in any of the films. It’s quite possible that this could be nothing more than just a piece to get your attention. It’s just an annoying game of “wait and see” at this point.

What say you fans? Is Carnage someone you’d like to see on the big screen? Would you rather have him as a Spider-Man
villain or a baddie for Venom to tackle? The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to hit theaters on May 2. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field and Chris Cooper star.
