Amazing Spider-Man 2 Looking For Its Harry Osbourne

The Amazing Spider-Man continues to expand its cast. We know that director Marc Webb found his Mary-Jane Watson with Shailene Woodley and his villain with Jamie Foxx taking on the mantle of Electro, but now the film is looking for a Harry Osborn.

Heat Vision is reporting that Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is still working on how it will portray Harry, but it is looking at a few actors right now. The part of Harry was originally slanted towards a bigger, more athletic actor, but the role has changed into something “edgier and darker.” The top names on the list are Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Alden Ehrenreich (upcoming Beautiful Creatures) and Brady Corbet (Melancholia). While those are allegedly the top names, at these early stages there could be more actors in contention.

Out of the list of contenders, I would give DeHaan the edge. He played a slightly Harry Osborn-esque character in Josh Trank’s Chronicle. With the first film’s darker tone, you can probably expect a dark and gritty Harry and Norman Osborn. The character is a college aged kid who befriends Peter Parker, and other than that we don’t know what direction they’re taking Harry. How would you like to see Harry portrayed? Who do you want to play him?

  1. I’m not going to go into length as to why I didn’t enjoy TASM, but I’m hoping the next film can restore my faith in all that were involved in the making of TASM.

  2. I jut wish Marvel Studios gets the rights back soon…-A.B.

  3. Agreed. I’m sure there are going to be many different films of Spidey as long as we live, but if the next film doesn’t get me, I’m just going to stick with the wonderful Kick Ass for the time being.

  4. I’m sure I’ll try again with TASM, but not right now..it was like The Clone Saga all over again :)

I agree about Dane DeHann being the perfect Harry for the sequel. I was originally very skeptical with all of the actors in consideration, having never seen them and thus not knowing if they could pull off the role. But then a coworker at DISH recommended I watch “Chronicle” in which Dane was essentially a darker version of Harry. I gave in and ordered the movie using Blockbuster @Home from DISH. With my busy schedule, I was so happy that it was easy to get the DVD delivered in the mail. I also love that I have the option of exchanging it in the store if I am feeling impatient. After seeing his performance I was completely won over by DeHann. He has the ability to turn from a good guy to the villain seamlessly; which is a key trait that defines Harry’s journey throughout the movies.
