THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Cast Talk Villains: Andrew Garfield Promises There Aren’t Too Many
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has really been on a marketing kick lately. There was a gigantic ‘sizzle reel’ that was really just a new trailer during the Super Bowl, we’ve gotten a few more stills from the Marc Webb directed sequel, and now the cast are talking about the film’s villain(s). Andrew Garfield, Dan DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Marc Webb, and and Emma Stone spoke with Yahoo Movies about the film and it’s big villain. We know Electro is the main villain, but the other baddies that pop up are teased as well. Andrew Garfield assures fans that no matter what the internet talk is, there isn’t a villain overload.
You can watch the full video below to hear some in-depth analysis of Electro and what he brings to the film, but the most interesting part is what everyone says about the possibility of other villains in the film. We know, despite the cast’s teasing, that Rhino and Green Goblin will also have some sort of role in the sequel. Their parts seem to be smaller, but they will make an appearance. The poster you see as this article’s banner has made some think that the film will suffer from Spider-Man 3 syndrome and be bloated with too many villains with nothing really to do. The film’s star says that isn’t the case. Garfield told the site “Maybe [there will be more villains]. Maybe. I can promise you there won’t be too many.” Director Marc Webb backed up that sentiment by explaining Electro is the main villain while the other two (or maybe more) have much smaller roles that really just set up things to come. What do you think about the cast’s comments? The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters May 2nd.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
