Alexander Skarsgard Says He’s Not Attached to The Crow Reboot
A few days back, it was reported that Thor and Avengers star Tom Hiddleston was rumored to be in talks to star in the upcoming reboot of The Crow. That rumor was quickly laid to rest and a new one jumped up to take its place. This time, it was True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard who was rumored to be in talks to take on the role of Eric Draven in the film. Today, MTV talked with the young actor and he says he’s not attached to anything at this time.
“No, I’m not attached to anything right now after ‘True Blood,’” Skarsgård said, choosing his words carefully. The 36-year-old did, however, have kind things to say about the 1994 original starring Brandon Lee. ”Yeah, it’s a great film,” he said. “It’s really cool.”
The rumor started after Skarsgard’s involvement with an adaptation of Tarzan fell through, leaving him open to new roles. Now, it’s entirely possible that he hasn’t signed a contract and is, technically, not attached, but could be in talks, but I think that’s a stretch. Aside from Hiddleston and Skarsgard, there have been numerous big names rumored for the role, including Mark Wahlberg, Channing Tatum, James McAvoy and Bradley Cooper.
The film is being directed by F. Javier Gutierrez based on a script by Jess Wigutow. The original 1994 film, which starred Brandon Lee, is a fan-favorite among comic book adaptations, and Gutierrez has a long road ahead of him if he wants to please these fans. There were several sequels that followed the original but none of them had the success, or the quality of Alex Proyas’ original film. Now that Skarsgard is out, is there a particular actor you’d like to see take on the role of Draven?
