AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Roundup: Mutants, Deathlok, Captain America Tie-In And More

shield bannerWhen Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on April 1st, there will be no more breaks. From April 1st until May 13th, the final seven new episodes will air uninterrupted. That should make fans, and even thee show’s cast, very happy. Just when we start to gain some momentum another break comes along and derails things. That news was revealed ahead of a special screening of this week’s episode at PlayFest, End of the Beginning. Following the screening was a special Q&A panel that gave us even more juicy information about what the future holds for Coulson and his gang.

Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb stressed that the April 8th episode will tie into Captain America: The Winter Soldier in a huge, monumental way, so it is important that you check the movie out on opening weekend so you can understand what’s going on. The answer to that is a little spoilery, so we’ll save it until last and give yo fair warning. The panel also confirmed that we will indeed be seeing a lot more of Bill Paxton‘s Agent Garrett before the big finale. Loeb added that “There are still a few more surprises that we’ve yet to shake out of our sleeves, but stay tuned.” There is no word on season 2 just yet, but the crew have specific plans in place for season 2 and they know who will be alive by the end of season 3. Star Clark Gregg said that he would love to see Rocket Raccoon or Scarlet Witch make a cameo on the show, but he’s “not picky.” There are currently no plans for a character from the show appearing in a movie, but there are apparently some discussions about how and if the Netflix shows will tie into the larger picture. There are also no plans to introduce any mutant characters, considering all of those characters are owned by Fox. Loeb shot that down, saying “there’s no proof at the moment that in the Marvel Cinematic Universe there are mutants.” Another interesting tidbit that came out of the PlayFest talk was the fact that Agent Melinda May was originally named Agent Rice, but when Ming-Na Wen was cast it seemed like that might not be a very good name for the character. A new poster and promo for End of the Beginning, featuring the full debut of Deathlok has been released by ABC and the official S.H.I.E.L.D. Facebook page. You can check those out right below this sentence, then below that you can see the more spoilery tidbit about the Captain America tie-in episode on April 8th.

And now for the spoiler. Actress Ming-Na Wen talked about her reaction after seeing a rough cut of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We sort of knew that S.H.I.E.L.D. would fall in the film, but how that effects Coulson and his Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will largely be what is explored in the April 8th episode.
