Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Has A Record Breaking Debut: Plus New Promo Videos
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the talk of the web last night. It seemed like everyone on Twitter was watching and commenting on the series premiere, and the ratings proved a lot of people tuned in. The show destroyed its fall competition according to The Wrap which resulted in the biggest network drama debut in four years. 11.9 million people tuned in to the pilot written and directed by Joss Whedon. while NBC‘s The Blackslist (starring James “Ultron” Spader) had 12.6 million total viewers, S.H.I.E.L.D. earned a 4.6/14 in the 18-49 demo. What does all that mean? Blacklist had more viewers, but S.H.I.E.L.D. had more viewers in the highly coveted key demographics.
There will be a drop in viewers for the second episode. The first episode was heavily promoted, but all shows lose viewers from episode to episode. It will be interesting to see if S.H.I.E.L.D. takes a sizable drop or just a slight one. Along with the big news in viewership, two new promos for the show have been released. The first one is a brief teaser for episode 2, entitled 0-8-4. The second one is a longer preview from Marvel teasing the rest of season 1. What do you think about the new promos? Were you surprised by the numbers for the pilot? Expecting them to be higher or lower? And don’t forget about Hellicarrier: The S.H.I.E.L.D. Podcast, an Across Airwaves and CBT co-production coming very soon. You can catch up with all the latest on Twitter @SHIELDassemble.
