Advanced Review: NEW Voltron DVD - The Final Battle

Advanced Review: NEW Voltron DVD – The Final Battle

I was born in the 80′s and to me thats when we had the best cartoons ever. I remember one in particular: Voltron: Defender Of The Universe. My cousin was lucky enough to have all the lions that when put together assembled Voltron, a super cool giant robot that would crush the enemies of peace. I had a mini version of Voltron but it was the vehicle one, which was still super amazing but too small. Ok enough of that, lets cut to the point.

Voltron

A new Voltron DVD is coming out next month, and I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy to review.

In case you didn’t notice (sarcasm) the Power Rangers, V.R. Troopers, Beetleborgs and much more “borrowed” some ideas from this popular series, so in a way Voltron started it all.

NEW Voltron DVD – The Final Battle – Hits Stores Nov. 1st

This is it! The collection of colossal episodes featuring Voltron’s most difficult challenges, culminating in the final galactic battle of Season 1!

Confronted by the inescapable Omega Comet, the fearsome Dark Doom Castle and the most powerful Robeast to date, will Arus be destroyed or will Voltron achieve final victory over King Zarkon and Planet Doom?

Voltron

One of the things that you will never find out while watching this DVD, is why in the world they dont put air conditioner inside the cabin? Everytime they show the characters in the cockpit thy are sweating a lot. Makes it seem like they are stuck in the Arizona desert. One would think that since they have giant robots they would have perfected the ventilation systems, but no! I feel sorry for them, specially Keith since he is the leader he really stresses out too much. One would think  that if they don’t die from the giant Robeasts attacks they sure will die from dehydration.

One of the things I love about Voltron is how heroic and diverse the main characters are because they always rush into action to save the planet or galaxy, without hesitation or A.C.

Yes the animation is dated, in comparison to todays standards. Obviously the new generation might not like it, but there is still a good chance they will if their parents instruct them in the fabulous ways of 80′s animation hehe. If you compare it to the new Voltron Force cartoons, well yeah there it is a big difference, but again this is the root of it all as far as giant robots fusing together to build up a bigger robot that will save the day and the galaxy.  In my opinion this DVD is for old school fans, people that grew up watching these series, people who had the lions, the figures, the blankets, the lunch-boxes etc…

Again if you are a fan you will love this DVD. Remember the nostalgia is going to hit you like a ton of bricks and you going to be screaming in joy  as soon as you hear the theme song and that is the beauty of it my friends . If  you truly are a Voltron fan you need to pick this up.

Now I leave you with the picture of my own Voltron (vehicle), that I still have..

Voltron
