gary oldmanEveryone and their grandma want to be a part of J.J. AbramsStar Wars Episode VII. It seems a lot of people (and maybe a few grandmas) have actually gotten a phone call, meet with the crew, or are just plain old “in talks” with Abrams and Disney for the movie. Jesse Plemons and Zac Effron were the last two actors that were said to have had some serious conversations about the next installment of the legendary franchise, and now you can add the iconic Gary Oldman to that ever expanding list.

While out and about promoting RoboCop, Oldman was asked what was next for him. The interviewer threw out the possibility of Star Wars since it seems everybody in Hollywood wants in on the action. Oldman says they’ve actually called, but nothing is official yet. The actor said “They’ve called. Yeah. I don’t know…You have to be…I’m more cynical about it now. I believe it when I’m on the plane home. The deal isn’t done. But yeah, they’ve inquired.” The man who played Sirius Black and Detective Jim Gordon does find the prospect exciting though. Oldman reflected on the fact he’s starred in many of the biggest franchises over the past several years and couldn’t believe everything he’s done as well as what he may possibly get to do now. He exclaimed “I mean Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter, and Batman and Star Wars? Bloody hell!” I think every movie could use more Oldman, but what do you think? Could you see Oldman as a Sith, a Jedi, or some other fantastical Star Wars character?
